One of the markets in the US which opened recently in which has just as quickly been forgotten is that of Nevada. You may be one of those players who has been playing at online casino sites such as the Lucky 18 casino for years, but there are some who are only just now starting to get involved in online gambling since the state has decided to regulate and license its own online poker sites. There are currently two operating in the state, Ultimate Poker and World Series of Poker, and the question now is whether there is enough bars of online poker in order to sustain a third site to be brought into the mix.
There are actually three different online casino brands who are looking to break into the poker market in Nevada, and so it may well be that the regulatory bodies decide to license all three of them, but many insiders and analysers are saying that there may not even be room for one single casino site more. Still, we can take a look at the competition and see which of them might have the highest potential for being able to bring in casino players from the land-based venues to play online. Z4 Poker is partnered with the land-based casino Siena Hotel Spa, and both brands are owned by David Colvin. It has the advantage of the brick and mortar partner in the Reno market, which at this moment is not really tapped by the two existing sites, as the two brands which already have online casinos do not operate land-based poker rooms in Reno. This means that this particular brand may be able to convert players in Northern Nevada who have not yet had the opportunity to try out the other two sites which are available in the state.
South Point Poker is our next option, and it will be doing business under the Real Gaming brand in partnership with the Las Vegas local casinos Rampart and Cannery. The sports betting app has demonstrated that the company is available for Nevada partnerships and able to collect them, but there is no confirmation as yet that the online poker platform will be connected to any other land-based brand. They do have a large potential database through their casino rewards program, however, and this may generate some action for the site. Lastly, there is the All American Poker Network, which is planning to partner with 888 – who are already running successful operations in New Jersey and Delaware. This is a potential gateway to the locals market, but the potential drawback might be the fact that there is a software conflict with World Series of Poker. It is not possible for players to have accounts with both sides the same time, and this could be a problem in any market in which 888 and WSOP are operating together. Still, if multistate agreements are on the table, 888 are well placed to take advantage of them.
