With the constant thrust for legalization of online casinos in the USA, Nevada may have the privilege of being the ideal center for online casinos. The State of Nevada is waiting anxiously to see the outcome of the bill which has been projected by Congressman Barney Frank on legalizing online gambling. During this intervening time, the people are hopeful that the online casino operators will be lured by seeing the land-based casinos in operation and will also commence operations.
In the recent publication of the Las Vegas Review, gaming authorities reported that they were of the opinion that taxes and licensing fees which are being paid by land-based casinos will also be levied on the online casino software operators, which is relatively low in Nevada @ 6.75% as opposed to other states in the USA. This is another good reason that online operators choose Nevada and get geared up to operate while waiting for the bill to be passed.
Dennis Neilander, Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board said that there is a possibility to circumvent the current state laws to suit the proposed federal laws and regulations. He also said that the enabling legislation was in place and would permit them to go forward with the idea shortly.
Greg Gemignani commented that there were many licensees in Nevada who had the experience in systems, technologies and the know-how that could be profitable for online gaming. Harrah’s Entertainment and Casinos have already made an attempt to gain access into the colossal USA online casino market.
With Nevada having an edge over other states with the huge tax break, and the infrastructure and experience in the gaming world, the online operators are hopeful that it would just be a matter of time before they could operate successfully online and reap the benefits at the ‘Sin City’ of the world!
